MAGACON (Malaysian Gamers Convention) 2011!
Gaming is global. Gamers and gaming comes from all over the world, where common interest settles down to one entity. Gamers understand gamers. Some even make friends through gaming on the internet and would then meet up to create a clan and enter worldwide competitions. This time around, MAGACON held the first ever annual independent Analog and Digital Gaming convention. The event was organized by Gamers especially for Gamers. This event gathers all gamers to experience the gaming culture and lifestyle in Malaysia.

Research Seminar-Taking the plunge from Master's to Doctorate (Series 5)
As the year is about to mark its end, the KDU Research Committee organized the last session of the "Research Seminar and Workshop". This time around, the research seminar took on the topic of "Taking the plunge from Master's to Doctorate". Dr.James Kuake shared with the audience his experiences and journey when he was pursuing his PhD and how he coped with his life. The event took place at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya Campus on 16th December 2011.
Getting to know Dr.James Kuake
Currently the Head of School (School of Computing, Communication & Media Studies, KDU)
He has been a practising Journalist, Public Relations, and Marketing Communication Consultant for over two-thirds of his 25 years career. He started working with the Malaysian Civil Service (after graduating with a B.A. in Journalism and M.A. in Communication from Ohio State University. He then progressed as a Journalist for the Star and later Business Times (a New Straits Times paper then). He lectured part-time with various Malaysian private institutions of higher learning and it was then, he decided to pursue with a PhD.

Study Visit to Central Bank
Once again, the Business lecturers of KDU took students on a study visit as they believed studying effectively sometimes, involves learning from outside the classroom. Students then can experience and understand the real world, relating back to their field of studies. This time around, the Microeconomics students had the chance to visit the Central Bank and also the "Sasana Kijang Museum and the Art Gallery". The visit took place at the Central Bank, Kuala Lumpur on 21st October 2011, lead by their lecturers; Ms. Tan Consilz and Mr. Ng Chin Hooi.

Every student knows this: after the classes comes the TEST! For the Keele University students, the study visit to CCAS Advertising Agency on 18th November 2011 too ended with a test – an assessment, to be precise!

SHTCA's Visit to Divine Mercy Boys' Home
We should always help others in need when they are living a hard life, during hard times. It does not matter on what ways we, citizens, help them because by the end of the day, people would remember the good deeds we have done.
On Thursday, 1st December 2011, The School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (SHTCA) & Alumni took a trip down to Diving Mercy Boys' Home, located at Kepong Baru. SHTCA does community service and voluntary movements annually, helping those in need. Since Christmas was near, the department of SHTCA prepared some gifts and food for the boys. They got what they wished for, in their Christmas list!

TZI Initiative "Breaking The Barrier (BTB) Tour" Press Conference & Launch
We always believe in doing good, and give something back to the society. Be a good citizen, and good things will come in the most unexpected way. That is exactly what Zhariff Afandi does, a great inspirational example to people out there. Zhariff, KDU's Alumni, a gifted child who is armless but big at heart.
Being armless does not stop him from anything and everything. He goes beyond borders to help others in need. He is currently the Founder of "The Zhariff Initiative". Click HERE to find out more about him and the company.
TZI (The Zhariff Initiative) will be organizing a series of sharing programme called "Breaking the Barrier" (BTB) tour throughout the country. The event was launched by Dato' Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (Youth and Sports Minister) and was supported by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. The launching and press conference took place at Laundry Bar, The Curve on 30th November 2011.
