We know how life outside home feels like, whether you are on a vacation, staying away from home, business trips, renting a place, and so on so forth. Cooking can be a hassle at times. It seems that some students have to deal with the incredibly punishing nature of such situation. Yes, we could have instant noodles, but here are some awesome and simple food you can cook yourself!
Contrary to myth, cooking with a microwave is
not unhealthy at all. If anything, it's probably healthier, because all of the
recipes below do not use ingredients like oil, and there is a guarantee that no
bacteria will survive the cooking process. Bear in mind that the time given for
each step is a rough estimation, and depending on the power of the microwave.
So, let's start micro-waving!
Mixed Veggies
We'll start off with the simplest recipe on the
list. This is a simple dish that can be prepared with any number of different
vegetables, and takes a short time to cook too.
Ingredients
1.
Carrots (sliced, thin and long) & other
assorted green vegetables
2.
Button mushrooms (chopped)
3.
Half a large onion (finely chopped)
4.
Butter (1 tablespoon)
5.
Salt
6.
Pepper
7.
Water
Melt the butter in the microwave first, in a
bowl, for approximately 30 to 45 seconds (full power). Place carrots and
mushrooms in a scattered layer on the melted butter, with the onions evenly
spread out and layered throughout the vegetables. Add a dash of salt and pepper
for flavor (adjust according to preference). Place a cup of water inside the
microwave next to the bowl. Microwave on full power for 2 minutes. Stir the
vegetables and mix them up. Microwave for another 1.5 minutes. Now you're ready
to go!
Roasted Chicken
Sounds almost too god to be true, right? Well,
no, it isn't. It really is possible for you to have roast chicken with just a
microwave. After all, students deserve the best in nutrition, don't they?
Ingredients
1.
One whole chicken
2.
1 packet of 45g French onion soup mix
3.
One microwave oven bag with elastic band /
ziplock
This is really simple. Take the chicken, drain
out all of the excess fluid in the cavities. Take the French onion soup mix and
cover the whole chicken with it. Once the entire chicken has been covered with
ALL of the soup mix, then put the chicken in the microwave bag, and microwave
for 18 minutes on full power. Job done – Roast Chicken!
