Inter- School Dance Competition 2012!

Dance, is a passion. Some, refer dance as a form of art, some as a favourite past time, and to some, it is merely a raw passion. The best time to unleash one's passion is by starting young. This time around, secondary school students got the opportunity to unleash their talent and passion for dancing. The KDU School of Pre-University Studies organized the annual Inter-School Dance competition. However, the theme this year was "1 Malaysia". Students had to prepare their dance and choreography, incorporating the theme of 1 Malaysia. The event took place at our usual hot-spot, the KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus's Auditorium on 12th July 2012.

A Splendid Night at the Malam Kebudayaan Melayu!

The tremendous turned-up of audience and supporters at the event hall

So, what happened after the MCS Fun Run event, organized by the KDU Malay Cultural Society? Was there a follow up? Yes, there was! The annual Malam Kebudayaan Melayu (MKM) took over the attention as the funds collected from the Fun Run and the MKM night was contributed towards the Shelter Home for Children. So, how much did both events raised? A whooping sum of RM 10,000 was raised and contributed towards the home. Kudos!

The MKM night took place at our usual hotspot, the KDU UC's Auditorium. The night saw a beautiful set-up of  decorations, including the hand-made "Bahtera" by students. Bahtera also means, ship. The event was a successful one, organized by the KDU Malay Cultural Society as well as the School of Pre-University Studies department. This time around, the theme for the MKM night was "Bahtera- Melayari Lautan Budaya". Another deeper meaning of sailing through the ocean of rich culture.

Star Spangled Carnival 2012!

Students with Dato'Teo (Executive Chairman, KDU University College) and Rajasingam (Programme Leader, American Degree Programme)

Admittedly, we missed celebrating the 4th of July on the 4th of July due to a scheduling conflict. But that didn’t mean we didn’t have a great time celebrating the occasion, a few days late. And while it was definitely less than practical to be hosting a barbecue indoors, we decided to go a somewhat different route: We hosted the Star Spangled Carnival in our DJ campus on the 6th of July.

Suffice to say that we made sure it was a star studded event. At 10:00 am, Vice Chancellor Dr. Tan Hui Ling kicked off the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony. There was plenty to do at the carnival with a wide variety of games to play. Winners would collect points at each booth that could be exchanged for prizes which included the ever famous “Beatz” headphones by Dr. Dre.

One, two, snap! To some, a picture paints a thousand words, to some, photography is life, to some, it is merely just pictures. "People at Work". So, who won? A "Within the Frame Photo Exhibition" happened on the 9th July 2012 at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus to determined the Photolympics winners as well as displaying chosen creative artworks.

MCS Fun Run 2012!

How would you spend your weekends? Most of us usually tend to go for movies, hanging out at cafe's, spending time at home, and so on so forth. Very often most of us are caught up with our own satisfaction and self-pampering time. However, have we ever thought about the lives of the unfortunate ones? This time around, the KDU Malay Cultural Society (MCS) organized a Fun Run event! The Fun Run event is an initiative towards helping those in the Shelter Home for Children.  They are trying to promote a healthy lifestyle as well as contributing towards a greater cause. A weekend spent at the  Stadium MBPJ, Petaling Jaya was all worth it! Participants had the time of their lives, running for a cause, spending time with families and friends, as well as having loads of fun.
