Changing Trends in Public Relations

" I am very excited to be back in Malaysia after three to four years to talk about PR research. It is great to have the chance to inspire  students about the big PR Trends.  Now KDU is a University, they need to look forward to do more scholarly research and I hope students can think about PR as a chosen academic career."

We all know that Public Relations has now become more relevant and important in today's world and society. Trends in Public Relation has also change from time to time especially the perception of it.
Kate Fitch (Picture shown above), a Senior Lecturer of Murdoch University came  to KDU University College and shared with us her knowledge and expertise on the changing trends of Public Relations on 10th of February 2011.

So, what more about Kate Fitch? She was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Citation for Excellence in Enhancing Learning during the year 2010. She has published in scholarly journals on corporate social responsibility, new media and public relations, public relations education and pedagogy, and public relations in Southeast Asia. She is also a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia's National Education Committee.

Future PR practitioners and students from the school of Mass Comm eagerly filled the room to hear Ms.Kate Fitch out!

The annual Dato’ CQ Teo Debate Challenge 2011 is back!

From a modest number of 12 teams at its inception, the tournament now sees participation of over 60 teams from all over Malaysia with the last installment of it being won by SMK Sri Permata after fiercely contending with SMK King George V on the motion “This House Believes That Religious Sites Are Legitimate Targets In Times of War”.

In keeping up with the KDU tradition of always being the first to innovate, for the first time, this tournament will introduce student adjudicators. We believe that it will be a platform to train students to adjudicate and be exposed to more than just debating.

When and where is it?

Date: 11 – 13th March 2011

Venue: KDU University College, Damansara Jaya Campus

Registration:10th February – 4th March 2011

Prize:  Champion – RM 2000 + Challenge Trophy
             Runner up – RM 1000
             Best Speaker – RM 200

The competition is open to all high school students from Form One up to Form Six. The tournament is capped at 60 teams; each school can only register one team as we wish to cater to the growing demand of schools wanting to participate. Slots are opened to teams on first-come-first basis. In the event of vacant slots, it will be opened to interested schools on a first-come first-serve basis as well.
