Ergonomics Talk
Back, neck, and joint problems are no longer exclusively for the old. Increasingly sedentary lifestyles and gym culture are taking a physical toll on gen x- and y-ers. The talk on ergonomics organized by Health and Wellness Centre on the 24th of September discussed these issues and possible solutions for them.
The talk began with Mr. Lim Wilson, the young and energetic physiotherapist for Sunway Medical Center who delivered the talk, explaining what ergonomics means. Basically, ergonomics means changing your environment to make work less strenuous on your body. Then, he broke down the benefits of ergonomics including increased productivity and better physical health. He also explained the risks behind not following ergonomics, for example joint pain and injury.

Happiness Awareness Camp
Today, happiness is seen almost as a luxury, something that is
barely affordable in our daily lives.
Countering that train of thought, the KDU Counselling Unit is organizing an awareness campaign on happiness for the students. With the aim of spreading cheer and positive vibes, creating an enjoyable and healthy environment for both students and staff has been priority. The Happiness Project has been around for the past two years and is back again, this October 1st to 4th. On the first 2 days, clinical psychologist will come on board to provide one on one consultation at the happiness exhibition area. The following 2 days will be the first ever Happiness Awareness Camp in KDU.
At the 2days 1night camp, students will be involved in all sorts of activities including a movie screening, visitation to a home of underprivileged children and not to mention, a session at JUMPSTREET! The camp encourages and helps give an initiating push for students to find out what happiness is to them and to strive for a “happy life”.

A Warmth Mid-Autumn Festival for Orphans and KDU Students
KDU UC representative with the children from Chempaka Buddhist Logde
An orphanage home at Sea Park, not far from KDU was founded by Chempaka Buddhist Logde. The home is supporting 9 under privileged children age from 6 – 12 years old. SAC staff and students have sent over some moon cakes, lanterns and candles to them as a gift on the special occasion. The care taker for the children is a friendly and kind aunty who dedicated her life to the children. She revealed that the gifts are lovely especially the lanterns and candles. Children would expect to have a fun Mid-Autumn celebration. Besides that, KDU Buddhist Society have made monetary donation to the home as well. The money was collected throughout the activities hosted by the society. This compassionate and kind effort is strived to be continued among KDU students.
