Teo Soo Pin Scholarship recipient, Brian Yau, shares his thoughts...

Brian Yau, a former student of Methodist Boys School KL, is currently a KDU Teo Soo Pin Scholarship holder who's pursuing his A-Level in Science.

Campus Life recently had a chat with Brian, who shared with us his experience in KDU, his inspiration and his future plans.

Why did you choose this course?

I find A Level challenging, but not in a stressful manner. Which is great, because I'm a person who likes to learn new stuff. And this course also serves as a stepping stone for my future endeavors.

Which is?

To be an engineer. As a child, my ambition changed from time to time, but as I grew older, I start to discover myself and what I'm good at. I've always been good and fascinated with mathematical and science subjects, and that's what attracted me to the engineering field. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to invent something useful to mankind.

How do you find studying in KDU?

Great! Every day spent in KDU brings about new memories for me.

How do you find a balance between study and play?

I don't assign study and play time. In fact, I am pretty much a spontaneous person. But I do think I have struck a pretty balanced lifestyle. For me, learning is not just about having to score in examinations and all. There is something gracious about it, as by learning, I get to uncover mysteries that I once was ignorant about.

Who inspires you?

I inspire myself to strive to achieve the best in everything I do. However I recall a classic American actor, James Dean, once said, "Dream as if you will live forever, live as if you will die today." I hold on dearly to this quote while carrying on with my life. Carpe Diem, after all!
