Dato' CQ Teo Debate Challenge 2011- Grand Finals

The Dato' CQ Teo Debate Challenge 2011 got even bigger and bolder this year thanks to the tireless effort of the newly-established KDU Debate Association with the support from the KDU Management.

The Grand Finals took place at KDU Damansara Jaya Campus on 13th March 2011.
Previous years saw 20 Teams from only the Klang Valley taking part but this year the tournament inevitably grew in size as evident from the participation of 60 schools from all over Malaysia.

The objective of this Debate is to groom future debaters who are “champion speakers” whilst giving each and every high school student the opportunity to debate and be exposed to the elite sport of debating

The best speaker of the grand finals was unanimously awarded to Razaq Fazail from Sekolah Dato’ Abdul Razak and the best speaker who topped the tabs in the preliminary round was Miss Debra Tang from Convent Bukit Nanas.

The Runner Up from SMK Sri Permata

The Champion goes to Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak!

We were also honoured by the presence of Dato’ CQ Teo himself and Mr Ong Keng Siew to witness the Grand Finals .
Here are some of the Speakers who achieved awards:

The three Motions that were debated on were:
- THW (The House will) evacuate citizens of embattled countries that do not wish to participate in the reformation of the country.
- THBT (The House Believes That) former places of torture and genocide should not be made tourist attractions.
- THBT Malaysia should allow Israelis to enter this country.

A round of applause for the members of KDUDA (KDU Debate Association) who gave their full effort to make this Debate Challenge such an amazing success.

Representatives from "Kolej Tuanku Jaafar"(Aileen Loo, Jeffery, Sharandeep Kaur and teacher, Mrs.Jeeja Pillay) also told us that they are very ecstatic to reach the Octo-finals because this is their first time
participating in the Dato' CQ Teo Debate Challenge. They also added that they need to prepare better in content to meet more fantastic challenges in 2012.

Overall, the students had a great experience and they are definitely looking forward to the next Debate Challenge. Hoorah!
