Halloween Backyard Terror 2011

It was the Halloween week. The week where people dressed up in their costumes, heading around for trick or treats, attending to Halloween parties, and frightening their friends and even family members. In conjunction with the Halloween celebration, the MICE students from SHTCA (School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts) decided to embrace and enlighten the celebration itself. The students organized the "Halloween Backyard Terror" event, held at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus (Auditorium) on 4th November 2011. There were much effort and hard-work being put into this event. The salute goes to them!

Teacher Advisor, Datin Puteri Juliana, dressed up as "Cruella De Vil", a character from the movie "101 Dalmations". She also mentioned that the students worked extremely hard to make this event a successful one. In conjunction with the Halloween Backyard Terror, the students created a flash mob, which took place outside the Pavilion mall, Kuala Lumpur to promote this event and also a mini Halloween Carnival at KDU Damansara Jaya campus.
A sneak peak of the Flashmob which happened on the 22nd October 2011. The event was sponsored by Pavilion KL, Paul Frank and 98.8FM.

Let's take a look what went down during the Backyard Terror:

Firstly, the costumes...
Students in Vampire-like costumes, a combination of the devilish side.

Chinese Vampires?

From left: Dressing up as a prisoner and a French-maid on the right.

From left: Skull face and a very bloody-Geisha.

These 3 caught the crowds attention when they walked in with the nurse & doctor costumes, smeared in blood.
As awesome dance performance by secondary school students!

There were also "Make-up" service done by students to set in the Halloween mood. What is Halloween without costumes and make-up right?

All sculptures and decorations were hand-made and painted by the students from scratch. Kudos to them for their creative ways!

Cute "Pumpkin skull-like" cupcakes. Some students said it was too cute to be eaten!

Not forgetting, the two invited DJ's of the night, Brains & The Eye! Duo's Ethan Curzon & Wai Hong are DJ's from Zouk Club. They did a great job in hyping the crowd with their awesome beats and soundtracks.

Ms.Kitty Lee (Head of SHTCA (School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts) giving away "Paul Frank" lucky draw prizes to lucky winners!

The crowd dancing away as the DJ's spin their favourite music. A very hip and happening crowd indeed!

Best-dressed finalists, from left- The chinese vampire, nurse in blood, lady-boy, and white angel. The crowd voted, and the 2 winners were, Lady-boy and Nurse in blood!

Overall, the crowd had a fun and blasting night! The sweat, tears and blood of the MICE students, did paid off. It was definitely a night to remember. Everyone had a good time dancing, mingling around, making new friends, having good food and most importantly, having the time of their life.
