Let's Talk 4G- Fast just got Faster!

We know that technology is growing rapidly in today's era. First, there was the 1G, then the 2G, later on, the 3G, and now, the 4G. The 4G is specifically made for today's internet as demand and expectations of consumers gets higher and more. The 4G technology is fast, reliable, and wide enough for all communication needs. Mr.Ali Tabassi (Chief Operating Officer, YTL Communications) recently presented a topic on this amazing 4G technology at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya Campus on 2nd November 2011.

Getting to know Mr.Ali Tabassi
Prior to joining YTL Communications in May 2010, he was the Senior Vice President of Global Ecosystem & Standards for Clearwire, responsible for driving industry standards and the global ecosystem to achieve Clearwire's corporate strategies. He also championed the development and implementation of intellectual property invention disclosures as well as establishing Clearwire's domestic and international roaming programme. He is also responsible for Clearwire's international network engineering and operations, product development, and IT services in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Poland, and Spain as the CTO of the Clearwire International.

The "YES" broadband services by YTL Communications is the first in the world to deliver high quality voice calls on a mobile broadband network. It speeds 3 to 5 times faster than the average 3G thus, consumers can surf more, play more and learn more.

This technology allows consumers to download videos faster than ever before, clear and crisp. It also allows downloading photos in a snap and stream music in a beat. With 4G, applications can also be downloaded in no time. YTL Communications is positioned to deliver  a great mobile broadband experience both now and in the future.

The Radio Access Technology Evolution
1G- It all started of with Analog (Analog voice , Circuit Switched, Mobile Voice only, Handsets). However, it possessed a higher battery life and capacity.

2G- Digital (TDMA)- The 2G went digital (Circuit Switched, Narrowband Data, Handsets, SMS/Email). It has a higher speed connectivity compared to the 1G.

3G- CDMA/WCDMA/EVDO/HSPA (Digital, Circuit and packet, Higher speed data, Handsets/PDA/USB, Web browsing, Voice Efficiency, Limited LBS.

4G- Then comes the 4th Generation (OFDMA/WIMAX/LTE)- It has more capacity, originally designed for data capabilities and a faster broadband. Here where video and mobile gaming is also added in.

"You don't buy a technology, you buy a service."

Today's wireless services are too slow, too expensive and spotty in coverage. However, YES created a different way where consumers do not have to buy a simcard for different devices. They just have to sign up and log in using only one number. For that one number, it can connect from the cell phone, to the laptop, to the desktop, to an Ipad, and to the house phone. International calls and rates are also cheaper than other broadband services.
Losing your phone or laptop is bad enough. But what's worse is losing your contacts as well. With Yes Life, you don't have to worry about losing your contacts. That's because it keeps your address book online, in the cloud. So they are always up to date and in sync, no matter which device you use to add, edit or delete your contacts.
Dr.Satesh (Head of School, Engineering) presenting a token of appreciation to Mr.Ali Tabassi
