In KDU, we always believe in a balance lifestyle for students between fun and studies. This time around, the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (SHTCA) recently organized a live peformance by SLIXS! The event took place at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus (Auditorium) on 8th May 2012.
SLIXS, one of Germany’s best vocal ensembles. Formerly known as Stouxingers, this six member’s vocal ensemble comprises of Katrina Debus, the only woman in the band with a phenomenal voice; Michael Eimann, the composer and founder of the SLIXS, Gregorio Hernandez, a talented singer; Karsten Muller and Konrad Zeiner, two men with a rare vocal ability and of course; Thomas Piontek who blew everybody’s mind with his beat boxing skills that can create any sound capable of putting a whole orchestra to shame.
The
whole Auditorium was packed way before 4pm, with audience who were more than
eager for the show to start. When the performance started, one of the best shows was witnessed here at KDU University College. At the very beginning of the show, Thomas Piontek’s bass caught
every eye and ear in the Auditorium, loud and so real it could have been a real
bass sound.
Each song that they performed, drove the
crowd crazy for more. They also covered a number of famous songs such as Waterfalls originally by TLC, Sometimes It Snows In April by
Prince, and a cover of Jungle Boogey that was improvised that
got everybody dancing.
Towards
the end, the SLIXS performed a particular performance where each and every one
of them showcased their fascinating ability to imitate sounds of nature. It
sounded so real you would have to witness it to believe it. They also got the crowd to participate with them in singing together in one of their simpler songs. When the show ended, everyone shouted for an encore until the group members came running back into the
spotlight, with utmost delight.
After their performance, there was an autograph signing session as well with each group members. The session saw a long queue of anticipating fans and supporters. A girl even requested Gregorio Hernandez for
a hug, which led to an uproar of envy screaming from other girls.
SLIXS with the hyper "MICE" students!
Overall,
the SLIXS live concert experience was amazing. Not only they were highly
talented individuals, they gave a show that nobody would certainly forget.
Kudos to the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts and the School of
Computing, Communication and Media Studies for making the SLIXS live
performance possible.
