The 2013 Power Chef Competition!


It was a weekend, a Saturday. However, it seemed like a busy day at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus. Few school buses arrived at the venue, unloads a number of students. What's happening?
It was the call of the annual POWER CHEF COMPETITION! All hopefuls and future chef's-to-be tried their luck in the competition to be crowned champion. 


The competition took place at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus on 20th April 2013. There were approximately 80 participating schools from the Klang Valley area. 


The competition were judged by the all- star team of culinary experts at KDU UC as well as guest judges. A group of chef students were also present to provide help and monitor the contestants’ works. To name a few; Chef Razali, Chef Enzo, Chef Darren, Chef Kenneth, Representative from Chef Association of Malaysia, Chef Representative from Nestle, and Chef Representative from Beyond Culinary Chef. 
Each team consisted of two students who battled out against other teams from different schools in a series of culinary challenges.

 Top 12 teams were then selected to head towards the final round of the competition.


The top 12 teams were expected to produce a main dish, soup and dessert for 2 pax. The final round menu was Puree of Mixed Vegetable Soup, Pan-Roasted Stuffed Chicken Leg, accompanied with Potatoes and Vegetables, served with sauce and Apple Crumble with Vanilla Sauce.

And the winning team goes to... (Drum roll)... Team Sugar & Spice from SMK Katholik, walking away with RM 4,000 worth of travel voucher and a grand trophy!

Followed by Team Ruby from SMK USJ 4, walking away with RM 2,000 worth of travel voucher
The 2nd runner-up went to Team Le Merry Haijam Sri Aman from SMK (P) Sri Aman, walking away with RM 1,000 travel voucher.


Not forgetting the 4th & 5th placing, Team Soft Paws of SMK Taman Sri Rampai and Team Stitch of SMK USJ 12, who both won RM 250 shopping vouchers.
Congratulations guys! Let's also give a round of applause to the team members of KDU UC School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts to correlate such events!
