Relaxing Friday - Coping with Stress

Stress Wall— at the beginning of the workshop, students write down what actually stressed them.

Stress management involves many aspects. From turning a stressful situation around in the best of our capabilities to carefully evaluating how we should react, there are many ways to manage stress in our daily lives.

Acknowledging that university days can be quite a feat with the amount of stress that one gets from studying alone, the counsellors at the Student & Alumni Centre organised a workshop on coping with stress, which covered topics from reducing its harmful effects to preventing stress from spiralling out of control again in the future.

Students share their experience on recognising the symptoms of stress and how to cope with it.

The workshop took place at the KDU Accommodations’ entertainment room on 31 July 2015. The workshop began with the participants having to learn how to recognise the true sources of stress.

Students participating in “Coping with stress” workshop and manage to learn some useful knowledge from there.

Students were then assigned to work in groups to identify the symptoms of stress. They discussed the different symptoms that they have experienced when they encountered stress in their lives. In fact, this workshop created an instant environment where they immediately feel less stressful as they discussed ways to cope with stress in their daily lives.

Each participant gets a stress relieving bubbles which helps cheering them up instantly.

The workshop ended with an activity of identifying their positive and negative coping skills towards stress. This activity left the students with a different idea on dealing with stress and changing the negative coping skills they’ve been practicing to positive ones when dealing with stress in future.
