It was an intense Saturday for 16 teams from across ten Klang Valley schools as they battled it out in their quest of vying for the title and bragging rights of being the inaugural KDU Basketball Invitation Cup champion.
The event, which was held last Saturday at the college’s Damansara Jaya campus auditorium, was in conjunction with the college’s Open Day weekend where a number of other activities, talks and workshops were also held.
KDU College’s CEO & Principal, Dr Chia Chee Fen, was present to launch the Basketball Invitation Cup and in her opening speech, applauded a healthy lifestyle, saying, “One should strive to lead a healthy lifestyle, and KDU believes that one should excel not only academically, but also in extra curricular activities and games, as it encourages a healthy mind.”
After presenting tokens of appreciation to the secondary school teachers in attendance, Dr Chia was game enough to start off with the first match.

The auditorium was abuzz with excitement and students watched with anticipation as schools battled with each other on the basketball court, with each game lasting 14 minutes. The championship was divided into two categories, Boys and Girls, and there were a total number of 9 teams from the Boys’ Category and 7 teams from the Girls’ category.
Participating schools include SMK Sri KDU, SMK Damansara Jaya, SMK Bandar Utama 3, SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4, SMK Bandar Utama and more.
Still, it did not deter the rest of the participating teams from giving it their best shot, enjoying the games as it went along, all in good spirit.
Establishing themselves as strong contenders as well, both the boys’ and girls’ teams from SMK Damansara Jaya met with the SMK BU3 teams in the championship finals. Both were exhilarating battles, with each of the teams going all out to win the championship title. After much sweat and intensity, both the SMK BU3 boys’ and girls’ teams managed to slam-dunk their way to victory, winning the championship title, and of course, bragging rights.
