KDU University College recently organized a special Open Day, focusing on KDU's flow-through programmes. Besides that, students and participants also had the chance to speak to programme counsellors and lecturers as well as entertained themselves with some visual games, entertainment, and a whole lot more at the discovery stations. The event took place at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus on 12th October 2011. For now, let the pictures do more of the talking on what happened on the event day itself!
Students demonstrating on "Mixology". Mixology also defines the study of preparing mixed drinks like cocktails and mocktails. To note that off, one of our Alumni made KDU proud by being the first Malaysian girl at the Diageo Reserve World Class Finals 2010, held in Athens which saw 9,000 bartenders from around the globe and she was one of the finalist. She is none other than Amanda Wan (a former International Hotel & Tourism Management graduate).
An expert, Mr.Sebastian Le Francois (Sommelier & Wine Consultant) of Le Gourmet & Fitou Restaurant, also KDU's part time lecturer teaching beverage studies, demonstrated on the art of "Oenology". Sounds complicating? Oenology also means the study of wines like wine-making, vine-growing, grape-harvesting and a whole lot more to it. Everything and anything to do with wines.
Students, learning the proper way to sip and smell wine. Oh yes, this is a wine tasting session as well.
A variety of wines, ranging from different brands, from white wine to red wine.
What's happening outside of the Auditorium? Game-axis giving away free mugs!
Students also had the chance to groove and have some fun at the game station. This is what we call, digital dance!
Free food tasting! This is no ordinary cooking method. Culinary students demonstrating "Molecular" style of cooking, Molecular cooking is a style of cooking in which scientific methods and equipment are used and based on chemical reactions.
Who stole that cookie from the jar? Students having a bite or two at the molecular food tasting station
Avid gamers also had their chance to explore the world of technology and game development
Not forgetting, the course enquiry station, where students explore their dreams and pathways
More games ! Welcome to the new era. Games development is growing rapidly among the youngsters and those who are tech-savvy.
Once students are done with visiting the discovery stations, had some course counselling, discovering their dreams, it is time for them to enjoy free coffee from Coffex!
