Making changes of the Flora & Fauna at Zoo Negara

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), now plays a vital role in today's society, be it helping those in need, helping to restore the environment, and helping the welfare society. In KDU University College, students are often exposed to these voluntary movements and are very active in CSR projects. This time around, students from the UC Degree (Bachelor in Mass Communication), assisted by a few students from the Computing and Engineering students participated in a voluntary project to make change in the well-being of flora and fauna at the National Zoo on 2nd March 2012.

There were 21 students participated in this volunteer project

So, what did the students do?
The team was divided, segmented into 3 different workstations; The bird aviary, reptile cages and mammal dens. Their task was to assist the zoo keepers in respective areas with daily chores such as raking and disposing of dry leaves, cleaning the animal dens, bathing the animals as well as preparing food and feeding them.
The students were at the Zoo Negara from 8.30am to 4.30pm. They all did a wonderful job in assisting the zoo keepers. We are proud of our helpful students!

Not only did they do good, they also helped save the environment as well as protecting the natural environment, keeping animals safe and clean. This project was a part of a CSR class assessment. It was definitely an eye-opener as students experienced the daily job routines in the zoo, as well as understanding the job scope of a zoo keeper.
