Congratulation! The Champion: Red House

The KDU Sports Carnival 2015 saw its opening ceremony held on 23 September 2015 at KDU University College’s flagship campus, Utropolis Glenmarie. Officiated by the organising community of the Sports Carnival, with the cooperation of Score, a known sports organisation in Malaysia, the ceremony was also graced by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia, Yang Amat Berhormat Encik Khairy Jamalludin.

The opening ceremony was also held to commemorate Malaysia’s inaugural Hari Sukan Negara, which was set on 10 October 2015. The ceremony at KDU was vibrant and action-packed, with one of the highlights being the Body Combat session Score trainers had on the spot with KDU students alongside the minister. The minister also broke into warm-up moves of his own alongside the enthusiastic crowd cheering him on.

The KDU Sports Carnival 2015, which is an annual 2-week affair, began on 28 September, where the first sport in competition was Table Tennis. However, it was not all smooth sailing throughout the sports carnival as issues with the hazy weather raised for health concerns due to the high Air Pollution Index (API) reading. Some sport activities such as football and rugby were heavily monitored due to the unhealthy API reading and were cut shorter out of concern for the students’ health.

Towards building a sporting nation and be part of 3 million Malaysians targeted to be involved in mass sport activities in conjunction with Malaysia’s inaugural National Sports Day on 10th October, KDU University College was proud and honoured to have its 2015 Sports Carnival officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, the Minister of Youth & Sports Malaysia, at its Utropolis, Glenmarie campus, on 23rd September.

Clad in full sportswear, YB Khairy was welcomed by Datin Teh Geok Lian, CEO of Paramount Education; Associate Professor Dr. Hon Wei Min, Deputy Vice Chancellor of KDU University College; Ms Susan Ooi, CEO of KDU College, amidst cheers and applause from the institution’s students and staff. After officiating the opening of KDU’s annual Sports Carnival, YB Khairy, together with the management, staff and students of KDU, took part in the Les Mills BODYCOMBAT® session organised by SCORE.

Organized by the KDU University College Sports club with the support of the Student & Alumni Centre, Sports Carnival returned for 2014 and featured a number of new games as well as collaborations with a number of partners to spice things up. The students and staff were divided in to four separate houses to compete in nine different sports events to determine not only which house would be the champion of 2014 but also who the best sportsman and woman from the students and staff.  We would like to take also take this opportunity to extend our thanks to our sponsors and partners Adidas, GenYes, and Hasbro Malaysia for their support of this year’s event, and hope to work with them again next year.

Kuala Lumpur, 11 August 2014: KDU University College organised its final Sports Carnival at its Damansara Jaya Campus. Organised by the KDU University College Sports club with the support of the Student & Alumni Centre, the Sports Carnival in 2014 featured a number of new games as well as collaborations with a number of partners to spice things up. The students and staff were divided in to four separate houses to compete in nine different sports events to determine not only which house would be the champion of 2014 but also who would emerge as the best sportsman and woman among the students and staff.  There was a sponsors galore this year with Adidas, GenYes, and Hasbro Malaysia coming in to support of this year’s event.

The 4th of August 2014 saw the launch of KDU University College’s annual sports carnival in their Damansara Jaya Campus. With the upcoming move to the Glenmarie Campus, this particular sports carnival marks the end of an era of holding the carnival at the venerable institution.


The opening ceremony was presided over by Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Dr. Hon Wei Min, and Mr. Mitchell Liong, Manager of the Student and Alumni Centre  (SAC) with soon to graduate student Ahmad Riyal acting as the master of ceremonies. Organised by the Student & Alumni Centre, the carnival will be spread over two weeks and cover ten different competitions including two new and interesting additions: Digital Games and Nerf.

The Sports Challenge came a little early this year, but that never did stop the strong spirit and enthusiasm from all teams! The grand finale took place at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus on 5th March 2013. We know you have all been wanting to take a look at the score sheet for each games. So, here it is:
