2 days MAKEOVER with the Amber Chia Academy!

5 lucky students from the KDU Entertainment Arts had the chance to undergo a makeover by the Amber Chia Academy. This plays an important role for the performing arts students as they need to be well groomed in order for them to be on stage plays, TV, or even performances. First impression always counts, be it during interviews, meetings, or even during business presentations. This time around, the Amber Chia Academy, which consists of 4 main important people, Supermodel Amber Chia herself, Catwalk Guru, Benjamin Toong, professional make-up artist, Jil Yong and fashion stylist, Swing. Tagged along in this event were also the Mass Communication students where they get the chance to experience and cover the event.

So, what were the highlights among the two days makeover?

Day 1- Grooming & Style presentation at the Amber Chia Academy (Jaya One)

Students were given a chance to learn the proper way to catwalk or to walk in a straight line. Above picture shows Elfira (Local actress as well as a KDU student) on a try out to walk in a crazy out-of-the-norm shoes.
Catwalk Guru, Benjamin Toong, strutting his catwalk in the name of professionalism. Look at those heels!
The students were taught how to walk and pose while maintaining the right body posture. Several easy-to-learn techniques such as staying flat on the wall for 10 minutes were shared with the students so they can easily practice it at home.
Then there comes the make-up session by professional make-up artist, Jil Yong, who is working up her skills on student, Ariel. Make-up can do many wonderful things to a persons' look!
The students were then brought over to the saloon for some hair-redefining moment. Location: Hair Atelier (Jaya One)

The moment where you have been waiting for, the end look! Here's an example how Ariel looks like after the makeover.
Ariel's hair turned out beautifully, with very nice flowy curls.

Day 2- Shopping with Supermodel, Amber Chia

A person’s outfit not only leaves an impression to others, it also reflects their attitude and brings out their personality.  The lucky students KDU Diploma in Performing Art made their way to Pavilion KL to have their second make over session at Forever 21.

The performing arts students then hold their excitement no more as they start their shopping experience together with Amber Chia and Swing. Both Amber Chia and Swing patiently gave comments and tips to our students as they select clothing that suits them most out of the various choices they have in the huge retail store. As the hours pass by, Swing styled our students individually and different transformations of the students dressing style were created. By the end of the day, all of our students were happy with the stylish new look that Amber Chia and Swing created for them.

It was definitely a memorable shopping experience for the Performing Arts students to be able to shop alongside a supermodel.

We KDU, sincerely thank the Amber Chia Academy for spending time with the KDU students, teaching and grooming them, making students look like a star!
